Chili Boats

It's wet.

It's rainy.

And it's cooooozy inside.

Time for some comfort food: Chili Boats.

Grab some sourdough rolls and hack off their tops. Press down the inside with your fingertips to form your boats.

Shred up a bunch of sharp cheddar cheese.

Layer the cheese at the bottom of your boat cavities.

Next, fill your boats up with your favorite kind of chili. This here is canned chili from the store as this was a spontaneous lunch idea and did not allow time for homecooked chili. (My friend gave me a recipe for one that is excellent. I'll have to try it again sometime this fall.)

Top with more cheese (and bacon if you are into that sorta thing.)

Cozy on up next to the fire and your kids and watch a movie. Walla! A perfect way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon.

  3. Your fire looks soo cozy in contrast to the rainy day weather, which you manage to look magical with your photographs. I can just imagine your warm house filled with the scent of those sourdough chili boats and some movie time. Wish I was there. Y.U.M.

  5. Wished you were there, too, Mel. I remember your fires in your 1040 apartment. Why do I keep reminiscing about that place?

Erin, you're a favorite of mine to eat melty sandwiches with.:)
