We might has well be living in the Amazon, folks! (If you happened to miss our first encounter this week go
here. )
| I first spotted one of these beasts the order day. I've always been fascinated by the size of these Mason Bees (I had to Google search that, don't you worry). The thing left before I could return with my camera. Mazzy spotted one for me this morning (Man, she's my little wildlife ranger, ain't she?! Another cookie for you lil' miss.) |
| I just love how he's buried deep in the Meyer Lemon blossom. (Frankly, I felt like I was intruding just a bit.) |
| And the vibrant yellow pollen dusting his back and legs, so beautiful. |
| He's a furry little guy. |
| From above. |
| Mid-flight. Look at his legs, covered in pollen. |
| Pretty, transluscent wings. |
| Meyer Lemon Blossoms. ( I guess it's not the appropriate time to tell ya'll that my husband left out our two barrels, we procured especially for our two fruit trees, in the rain. They're wood. They are stuck together. For good, I'm afraid. Babe, you better put those muscles to work!) |
| A little buddy came to say hi. |
| Apparently the male Mason Bee (seen above) has a stinger but only uses it in case of real danger. The stinger acts more as an egg guide (whatever that means). So, this big furry beast of a bee is fairly children and pet friendly. * |

These are fantastic photos. So crisp and beautiful. I can't wait to see who visits your garden next!
ReplyDeleteTruly amazing shots Keri. So beautiful. Your photography rocks my socks. You are killing me with the comments about interrupting. :)
ReplyDeleteI love how you watched the whole simple daily business of a bee and caught it all in slow motion for our minds to process. Sometimes I catch a glimpse of nature on my way to work or lunch break (a scent of a flower I haven't smelled in ages, puppies in front of a grocery store) and just wish I could sit outside and enjoy the wonder of life. But then I check my watch, and move on.
Ranger Mazzy, I love it!
Your lemon blossoms are so pretty.
Your world is super natural. I think your love and craze towards nature is awesome and fabulous. Keep up the pace. Wish you all the best for your future.
ReplyDeleteMel, I love your description of your walk back to work after lunch...sounded so lovely.I often am forced to move on with the kiddos, so I totally get what you mean. It was a lucky moment in that Ev and Nori were over so the kiddos were playing nicely while I stole away to snag these pics. Then Ali came to pick up her kiddos and peeped her head over the fence and saw me. Ha, I felt a little silly. ;) And can't you see Maz rock the Ranger hat? Totally. She should work in Yosemite during the summer months when she graduates. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouraging comments, guys!
I LOVE bees! And I LOVE these photos!! I think my absolute favorite is the one of the "little buddy" coming to visit - so cool! I'm so sorry that I interrupted this little photo session, Ker. No need to be embarrassed...you were an artist at work! :) I'm just glad you were able to get as many as you did before I stopped by!
ReplyDeleteMel, "Your photography rocks my socks." Ha! That made me giggle. My friends are so clever with words. :)
Keri, your skills rock my socks, too.
