Eleven Years

What?

A cute little card from a couple that tolerates our company every now and then.
Josh and I met in  November of 1997. We really liked each other then and we really like each other now. I mean, I love him, of course, but the fact that we still like one another makes all the difference. We enjoy being around each other, spending our "free time" together. Dont' get me wrong, we also do a very good job at annoying one another, too. It makes life interesting.   He tolerates my nag-y ways while I tolerate his fourteen different articles of pocket debris on my counter.

Back to the point...we're happy. Still.

This past weekend we celebrated 11 years together as husband and wife. This, of course, means we ate a lot. Here is a photo journal of our time together...

Our first stop was at Pangaea, a place the features numerous beers on tap (aka Josh's Haven) in Curtis Park. Josh appreciates a good beer, where I usually prefer a glass of wine. The people here were so very friendly and suggested I try the Blanche De Bruxelles. It was light and crisp and I enjoyed it immensely.

Note: Did any of you notice the guy on the glass?
We started our lunch off with a mixed green salad, topped with bleu cheese, whole almonds and dried cranberries. The bleu cheese and to-die-for dressing were the stars of the show here. Can I just say that I prefer my almonds either halved or chopped in a salad, but I survived.
Lemon Chicken panini with provolone and basil. I found this sandwich to be a little heavy on the basil and a bit too "tomato-y". However, it was crispy and flavorful and paired nicely with the Blanche De Bruxelles.
The Gobbler. This sandwich was  goooooood. Turkey on a fresh baguette with cream cheese, cranberry sauce, lettuce and we added bacon per their suggestion. Um, this hit the spot! Josh and I  are both suckers for a sandwich on baguette ever since our days working for La Bou.

After lunch we headed across the street to Gunther's Ice Cream for a chocolate malt. The perfect ending to a quite enjoyable meal.

After lunch we stopped by Dimple Records to pick me up Adele's latest album on record. I am OBSESSED with this song.
Later that day we took the kids for a 13 mile bike ride along the American River bike trail, Goethe park, and back to a neighborhood park near Josh's parent's house.

The perfect way to spend time enjoying  our kids and tiring them out at the same time.

Around 9 o'clock we sat down to a dinner entirely prepared by Josh. Is there anything sexier than a man cooking for you?

We talked, we laughed, we ate and we drank merrily.

  1. I just absolutely loved everything about this post. You two are so adorable together, and it is clear how much you truly do LIKE being life companions. That dinner Josh prepared reminded me of your dinners at your first apartment together. I can just imagine you guys sitting there enjoying your wine and food, and talking about the years that have past. What a perfect way to spend the anniversary. And I adore the photo booth photos of you guys. Perfect. What a gorgeous couple! I just saw my grandparents and they just celebrated their 66th. So many years of beatiful memories and enjoying life together. It's so inspiring. I love stacking on the years with Mark too, everything gets so much better.

  2. Melanie...I think the same about you and Mark. That's what makes double dates with you guys so fun...spending time all together sharing time with friends, but being together as a couple. Thank you for your ALWAYS sweet comments. Congratulations to your grandparents, truly remarkable and something to aspire to!

  6. Thanks, E! Love ya, too.

I did take some photos on Saturday with J's phone.....I decided to include them in another post. I didn't want to bore folks with 8 million photos at one time. :)

  7. Did you see Michelle and Barack Obama on Oprah recently? Your thoughts about the importance of liking each other, above and beyond your love for one another, remind me of the way Michelle spoke of her relationship with Barack. I am so glad that you and Josh found each other. What a blessing to married to your best friend. You guys just "fit." And the fit just seems to get comfier as the years go by, like the perfect pair of jeans.

What a fun day you guys had! I have to agree with you on the almonds, though. In a salad they simply MUST be sliced or chopped. Whole almost are for eating out of the palm of your hand.

    How was the wine?

Oh, and "tolerate"? Ha! Good one, Ker. ;-)
    Love you two. <3

  8. No, I actually have not watched that Oprah show, but hopefully it's on my DVR. :)

The wine paired quite nicely with the meal, Ali. Thank you!

  9. correction: "Whole ALMONDS are for eating out of the palm of your hand." Not "almost."

I hope you get to see the episode. It was good!
