We are surely a pair but, oh how I love and enjoy my Mazzy so very much.
Mazzy enjoys her friends immensely. (Mazzy with her best bud, Evan.)
One of Mazzy's favorite out door activities: Flying kites.
Mazzy LOVES to be fancy.
Mazzy enjoys water (unlike her mother.)
Mazzy loves taking walks especially when animals are involved.
Mazzy wants to be a chef when she grows up.
Or a Roller Girl?
Mazzy does a mean pedicure.
Her homemade lemonade isn't half bad either.
It's pretty amazing your ability to redirect her when she gets upset, you've definitely walked through this mine field a few times before huh? ;) You really know how to dissapate her frustrations.
ReplyDeleteAnd what I find even more amazing is her ability to change her own behavior and thoughts. You can really see her walking herself through coping with her immediate emotional responses. LIke how she offered for you to take a picture - no video, twice after you explained that you couldn't showed her understanding in the situation, almost like an apology to you. Her tone in the end softened towards you and it's clear how much she is working on this. She lost it once, but completely recovered to finish the video. Pretty awesome!
What a great mother daughter chef team you make! "The cooking shows keep things moving along" hahaha. You're so funny.
Listening to my friends talk to their children brings me so much joy, I am completely transfixed with the kindness, fun, and teaching opportunities you bring to their lives. I can only hope to do the same.
I was going to ask where you got that awesome cheese contraption and then realized I don't get to grate cheese anymore. Wahh!
Oh, Mel...yes describing it as a "mine field" is perfect! :) Thank you for your assessment of the situation. It's actually really helpful to see these types of situations through the eyes of the observer. Enlightening. You really are insightful my dear friend. <3 Yes, I tend to speak to Mazzy impatiently, hence the "cooking shows move along.." :) Sorry 'bout the cheese, love. :(
DeleteI think it's awesome that she wants to be a chef and you are so awesome for fostering that passion and producing her cooking shows! Please tell me there will be more episodes!!! Loved these photos and had so much fun with everyone last night. Maz must get her kickin' hosting skills from her mama. The lemonade on the little tray was so cute! Maybe Auntie Erin will get some next time. Also, she should totally be Fancy Nancy for Halloween, she has the look DOWN!
ReplyDeleteI seriously love the idea of having Mazzy do her own cooking show...to document her progress in the kitchen for her to look back on when she's older. Thanks for the idea, Auntie Erin. Josh totally wants to edit them....like Mazzy TV. Ha! She would love the opportunity to fix you some leamonade. I'll get her on that the next time she sees you! Thanks for the sweet comment. <3
ReplyDeleteDOOOO IT.
DeleteI have so enjoyed watching the evolution of your relationship with Mazzy over the past 5+ years. It wasn't that long ago that you were in the middle of what you've described as your most challenging time with her. But for quite a while now, it seems you two have totally gotten back into your groove. I loved listening to you on the extremely adorable cooking video. You are SO patient and kind and, Mel's right, you can see that Mazzy is really starting to learn and practice techniques to handle her emotions in appropriate ways. This is something we've had to work on with Evan a lot, and that we're still working on with him. You are a really good mom and I admire you.
ReplyDeleteThere are some really great pics here. The one of Ev and Maz completely warms my heart, and the Fancy Nancy one is an all-time fave of min. She should TOTALLY be Fancy Nancy for Halloween, like Erin said. She looks so cute, and you've already got the costume!
Love that you gave each other pedicures. That is just the cutest.
